Good Finds

Lots of sales recently hit Copenhagen stores and I took a liking to the jewelry brand Pilgrim. They have lots of funky statement necklaces and bracelets but I mostly enjoyed their more simple pieces, like these silver plated rose earrings and long gold charm necklace. The prices are not bad!

Yesterday I went out window shopping for the first time in what feels like forever! It was nice to see some of the spring looks at various stores and of course I came home with a few things on my “wish list”. I’m super happy to see the Designers Remix SS13 in the flesh, I pretty much want the entire line (especially this skirt). I also popped in to Topshop to look for a new blazer and picked out this Boyfriend style, and then this Chambray suit caught my eye. I wouldn’t mind having something like that for the warmer weather!

This past weekend Finderskeepers threw their design/clothing market at Korsgadehallen. There were tons of sellers with handmade jewellery, big color-block posters, and screen prints galore. My friends Double Standard, WAAITT, My Buemann, and Liv Caroline looked great at their tables. I spotted a cool sweatshirt style leather top from Hide and noticed that soon they’ll have a webshop.

Yeah, right! The sun has teased Denmark the past few days, allowing everyone to wear maybe one less layer, but this afternoon all hope froze — literally. It’s been a mini-blizzard and I can’t believe it. Luckily the other day I had the urge to finally purchase a pair of goulashes (which I’ve needed for hikes in the forrest) and now they’ll come in handy. Just when you think you can pack up the winter jackets… sheesh! Anyway, these beauties are from Topshop (bought on Ebay) and are very comfortable. I’ve been looking for a boot that fits nice around the calf and doesn’t have that normal goulash bulkiness.

So aside from barely one serious crime committed in Copenhagen a year, there’s virtually nothing to worry about except for pick-pockets. Unfortunately, many people I know have had their phones stolen.  My poor boyfriend even had his stolen twice within one year! These pick-pockets are clever and crafty, I’ve got to hand it to them. Copenhagen caught on to the first act about 6 months ago: a young kid would come into cafes or bars, anywhere someone was sitting with their phone or wallet out, and he’d place a piece of horribly scribbled-on paper and point to something he wanted. During the distraction, he’d then slide the phone from under the paper into his pocket. Gone. Now, the new tactic seems to be a group walking by having fun randomly going up to folks doing “karate” moves. As they do this, they’ll reach into your pocket and take whatever they can grab. Phone, wallet… again, gone.

Now I’m beginning to doubt the ever-loved pocket. No matter where your belongings are, someone clever enough is bound to find a way to steal it. Now that spring and summer are around the corner, the amount of pockets will decrease to simply your pants or handbag: even easier to physically spot and grab. I’ve been wanting to find some way to carry the few items you may need going out, phone & credit cards, that can’t be easily taken, or at least can be felt. For instance, a leather pouch to hang around your neck. You’ll totally know if someone tries to snag it! It fits underneath or outside of a shirt, and it’s not a fashion faux pas. I’ve seen a few styles floating around but the most simple and practical (and affordable) is in stores at Cos. I’m definitely investing in this to have a worry-free summer!
