There’s nothing I could want more for the beach this summer… Lynx bathing suit.
London Shopping
As I mentioned before, I did some shopping in London! It was really fun to visit the huge stores on Oxford… you can literally get lost in them — Topshop & Topman even has a store map to help you navigate! After a long stroll, I picked up some nude Nevada lipstick from Topshop and gushed over the perfect summer boot. I also found a French linen tunic shirt from Uniqlo and a striped crop top at American Apparel, which I’ll wear for those breezy summer nights.
The next day we visited Brick Lane which is full of vintage stores, where I found a pair of amazingly altered Gap leather shorts at Beyond Retro, and an even better blouse-bomber pullover.
Next vacation is to Berlin in June, and I couldn’t be more excited! Last time I visited, I found an insane amount of cool vintage clothes. Summer is starting to look great! 🙂
New In: Pilgrim Jewelry
Lots of sales recently hit Copenhagen stores and I took a liking to the jewelry brand Pilgrim. They have lots of funky statement necklaces and bracelets but I mostly enjoyed their more simple pieces, like these silver plated rose earrings and long gold charm necklace. The prices are not bad!
Find them here 🙂
A lovely visit…
…From my parents! They came to see me in Copenhagen for the past 2 weeks, and 5 of those days were spent in London. It was such a treat going to London again, it’s been a solid 3 years since my last visit. We spent our time here in CPH visiting wine bars, Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Den Blå Planet (Denmark’s newest aquarium), strolling about flea markets, and a few days in Hesnæs (a beautiful beach down south). Then off to London! We split up a few days since I’ve seen most tourist-y things, so Anders and I chilled out along Brick Lane, Camden canals, Hackney, and Old Street. Oh yeah, and a “little” bit of shopping on Oxford. What a week!

More Spring Digs
Yesterday I went out window shopping for the first time in what feels like forever! It was nice to see some of the spring looks at various stores and of course I came home with a few things on my “wish list”. I’m super happy to see the Designers Remix SS13 in the flesh, I pretty much want the entire line (especially this skirt). I also popped in to Topshop to look for a new blazer and picked out this Boyfriend style, and then this Chambray suit caught my eye. I wouldn’t mind having something like that for the warmer weather!
Finderskeepers
This past weekend Finderskeepers threw their design/clothing market at Korsgadehallen. There were tons of sellers with handmade jewellery, big color-block posters, and screen prints galore. My friends Double Standard, WAAITT, My Buemann, and Liv Caroline looked great at their tables. I spotted a cool sweatshirt style leather top from Hide and noticed that soon they’ll have a webshop.
Welcome Spring?
Yeah, right! The sun has teased Denmark the past few days, allowing everyone to wear maybe one less layer, but this afternoon all hope froze — literally. It’s been a mini-blizzard and I can’t believe it. Luckily the other day I had the urge to finally purchase a pair of goulashes (which I’ve needed for hikes in the forrest) and now they’ll come in handy. Just when you think you can pack up the winter jackets… sheesh! Anyway, these beauties are from Topshop (bought on Ebay) and are very comfortable. I’ve been looking for a boot that fits nice around the calf and doesn’t have that normal goulash bulkiness.
Double Standard / Tictail
My good friends at Double Standard in Malmö, Sweden, have just switched their webshop to the new Swedish online store Tictail.com. The site is free to create a web shop and includes a few nice features upon initial launch – apparently they have plans to add a forum and more extensions to customize the shop templates. The current templates are no fuss and beautifully minimal. There isn’t one that I don’t like! I think it’s a great concept for independent stores, or even if you’re a girl with a lot of second-hand clothes to sell.
Fødselsdag!
Yippee, another year older!
I’ve been smothered by birthday greetings all day — I feel so loved! I’ll write later about some of the gifts I’ve received :). Today I went to the zoo with my Danish class, it was really cool to see the isbørne og sæler (polar bears and seals) playing around. Afterwards I stopped by the opening of & Other Stories, H&M’s new brand. Their look is killer, I immediately fell in love with these pants and top for Spring:
Now that I’m getting older, my skin is too (ew). I took a little tour around the Kiehl’s store yesterday because I’m looking to restock in my daily cleansing / moisturizing products. I’m running low! And so I thought, why not try something new? My daily routine consisted of iS Clinical Cleansing Complex, Alba Oil-Free Aloe & Green Tea Moisturizer, and Garnier BB Cream. I love them all, but still my skin seems to be super dry. At Kiehl’s I looked for a system that consistently included moisture and was recommended the following products. The woman I chatted with was happy to give me samples, and so far, so good! The Ultra Facial Cleanser is mild but works hard, and the Clearly Corrective serum feels extra light-weight. To top it off, the Damage-Correcting Moisturizer gives my face great coverage and tone, and it already feels more hydrated. The titles of these products sound kinda scary, but I’d rather deeply correct my skin now rather than looking like an old catcher’s mitt when I’m 60!
Anti-theft Summer
So aside from barely one serious crime committed in Copenhagen a year, there’s virtually nothing to worry about except for pick-pockets. Unfortunately, many people I know have had their phones stolen. My poor boyfriend even had his stolen twice within one year! These pick-pockets are clever and crafty, I’ve got to hand it to them. Copenhagen caught on to the first act about 6 months ago: a young kid would come into cafes or bars, anywhere someone was sitting with their phone or wallet out, and he’d place a piece of horribly scribbled-on paper and point to something he wanted. During the distraction, he’d then slide the phone from under the paper into his pocket. Gone. Now, the new tactic seems to be a group walking by having fun randomly going up to folks doing “karate” moves. As they do this, they’ll reach into your pocket and take whatever they can grab. Phone, wallet… again, gone.
Now I’m beginning to doubt the ever-loved pocket. No matter where your belongings are, someone clever enough is bound to find a way to steal it. Now that spring and summer are around the corner, the amount of pockets will decrease to simply your pants or handbag: even easier to physically spot and grab. I’ve been wanting to find some way to carry the few items you may need going out, phone & credit cards, that can’t be easily taken, or at least can be felt. For instance, a leather pouch to hang around your neck. You’ll totally know if someone tries to snag it! It fits underneath or outside of a shirt, and it’s not a fashion faux pas. I’ve seen a few styles floating around but the most simple and practical (and affordable) is in stores at Cos. I’m definitely investing in this to have a worry-free summer!
